I began my working life as a professional musician. After graduating from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, I spent nearly 15 years playing the viola for Scottish Opera Orchestra, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and the Glasgow Philharmonic Orchestra.
In the mid 90's I had a major crisis involving illness and deportation from Australia where I had gone to live with my partner. Back in the UK and recovering, I started my training as an existential therapist. Having had both a former career and a life threaten illness have give me extraordinay insight and experience which I use in my practice as a therapist.
I now combine this work with playing the viola on a semi professional and ameteur basis and have joined the London International Orchestra and the Nonesuch Orchestra. At some point I would like to teach the violin and the viola.
During and after my training I worked for Mind as a counsellor, counselling coordinator, mental health worker and Health and Well Being project worker. I now work in private practice.
